It goes back to wayyy before plaids were all and raging. I've been wearing plaids since I was 5 or 6. Thanks to Mom, I love it all the way till now. And even if it goes out of fashion, I'll still love it.
But 1 very important thing to note, no matter how much you love plaids, you should never ever ever ever ever commit this faux pas.

Well, you definitely have to come to Wellington ;)
Also, some really fantastic things to see is the Fox Glacier, the thermal areas in Rotorua, Marlborough Sounds, tons of stuff! If you get hold of a Lonely Planet at a library or buy it, it should tell you heaps of great things to do.
